Billy Connolly to reflect on acting career in UKTV Gold series

Legendary comedian Billy Connolly will look back on his illustrious 50-year career in a new TV series, which will air on Gold later this year.

Each episode of Billy Connolly Does… will focus on a particular topic, with work, sex, travel, childhood, parenthood, love and marriage all explored throughout the five part race. .

As well as offering new takes on classic and rarely seen comic book sets, the series will also see him reflect on how his opinions have (and haven’t) changed since their first performance.

Designed to be a showcase for one of the UK’s brightest comedic talents, the program will also offer a glimpse into Connolly’s relationship to his material and his life in Florida, with filming taking place in and around his home. .

“I am really looking forward to sharing some of my favorite moments over the years,” he said in a statement. “It was awesome, and I hope you will come take the tour!” “

Billy Connolly Does… will consist of five one-hour episodes and was commissioned by Iain Coyle, UKTV’s Head of Humorous Entertainment.

“So this is a highlight of my career, working with one of, if not THE, greatest comedians of all time,” Coyle said. “I feel incredibly privileged that Billy and his family have given us access, not only to his incredible archives, but to their daily lives as well.”

The show will see Connolly reunite with his frequent collaborator Mike Reilly, who has been the director of several of the comedian’s previous television projects, including Great American Trail, Made in Scotland and Route 66.

Reilly added, “I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Billy for quite some time now and the one thing that never ceases to amaze me is how much he allows everyone to be in his company, how the laughter, the pearls of wisdom and the shaggy dog ​​stories never seem to end.
