Depending on who you talk to, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may have found his Adam Warlock. As of Saturday morning, rumors quickly spread across the internet suggesting that Will Poulter was cast as the fan-favorite cosmic character. The rumors are rooted in a report of The cosmic circus, who says their sources indicated there had been “behind-the-scenes” chatter supporting the cast’s claim.
It’s also worth noting that at the time of this writing, James Gunn had yet to debunk the report, much like he has with other internet rumors. Although Cosmic Circus note that they don’t feel comfortable enough to claim it as a definitive report, they suggest that all signs point to it being correct.
Interestingly enough, Will Poulter was once slated to star in Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV series, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. This took place in early 2020, and the series has already been renewed for a second season. Maybe Poulter and his camp were already in talks with Marvel Studios and didn’t want to be locked up because something was brewing.
Virtually nothing has been revealed about the story other than the fact that it left some of its cast in a “deluge of tears.”
“We read it together in the same room, and then we looked at each other, and we were in tears,” Gillan told Yahoo! Films earlier this fall, adding that the third film is “so touching.”
“You learn more about the existing characters and on a deeper level,” she said. “I’m really excited to explore Nebula after Thanos.”
The first two guardians of the galaxy movies are now showing on Disney + while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2023. I am Groot and the Guardians of the Galaxy vacation special have not yet received the release dates.
