“Home Knowledge Series Technology

In its efforts to improve the country’s infrastructure, the Association of Infrastructure Industry (India) and JK Cement Limited have created an independent platform for academics and construction industry leaders to share their knowledge for improvement of construction for better Bharat.
The one-hour session of the specially curated “Home Knowledge Technology – MASTERCLASS” series was held in Goa on November 12, 2022 on various aspects of construction in India. The knowledge series was followed in large numbers by civil engineers and architects in Goa. The Association of Infrastructure Industry (India) and JK Cement Limited aimed to bring knowledge to the city of practice for civil engineers and architects to empower them for better work. In this series, Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Misra from IIT Kanpur spoke to practicing civil engineers and architects on a topic relevant to the improvement of construction in India and will also help such professionals in their career.

Aimed at sharing a powerful blend of theory and practical experience related to the field of construction, this specially curated master class by JK Cement has been organized to help civil engineers understand and explore present and future trends in the development of sustainable technologies related to the scope of Civil Engineering. ToH MasterClass was conducted by a construction stalwart, Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Misra, Professor, IIT Kanpur and aimed to impart knowledge covering technical know-how on rapid changes in construction method, durability and life cycle management, forensic engineering, importance of specifications and some other technical aspects of construction, which will help civil engineers and architects in Goa.

Speaking of the initiative, Shri. Rajaneesh Dasgupta, Director and Managing Director, Association of Infrastrcuture Industry (India) and Shri Pushp Raj Singh, Group Chairman – Sales and Marketing, JK Cement Ltd, said that “These sessions are specially organized, led by eminent academics of IITs and will seek to present the wide range of expectations of civil engineers in general and concrete engineers in particular and also highlight the urgent need for continuous upgrading of the skills of practicing engineers through professional initiatives These sessions will focus on various topics such as the rapid changes in construction methods, the pressure to adopt more sustainable construction practices, huge changes in the role and expectations of a concrete engineer and the management of a project’s life cycle, addressing issues of maintenance, renovation and augmenting existing infrastructure and well others.
Adding further, Shri Rajaneesh Dasgupta said, “The involvement of civil engineers and architects is certainly greater in the case of large infrastructure projects, but when it comes to the construction of detached houses in India, owners often do not take the professional services of a civil engineer risking the strength and longevity of the structure. It must be understood that civil engineers and architects form the backbone of any construction, so it is essential to make the investment of hiring them for any construction. With the ever-evolving changes in the construction methodology in the country, there is a dire need to equip practicing civil engineers and architects with knowledge for the betterment of construction in India. So, Association of Infrastructure Industry (India) and JK Cement Ltd launched this “Technology of Home Knowledge Series – MASTERCLASS” which talked about various challenges and solutions in the construction of NAYA BHARAT”.

Further adding, Shri.Pushp Raj Singh, said, “India is in its perfect stage of development and needs engineers and skilled manpower with ideas and expertise that can shape the world. future of the nation with sustainable technology and innovation. We have worked tirelessly and resolutely for years to stay true to our mission and motto, “Build Safe”. Creating durable and reliable structures that not only look good but also perform their functions impeccably is only possible with a vision of “Building Safely”. In the rapidly changing world of construction, theory versus practice is often debated. However, when learning from industry experts, the unanimous answer is to have real-world experience.

Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Misra, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Kanpur, said that “engineers and architects work closely with other stakeholders in creating and maintaining infrastructure. They must not only be professionally competent, but also aware of the social responsibility that rests on their shoulders. With rapidly changing technologies, building practices and paradigm shifts in stakeholder relations, it is clear that colleges’ curriculum will not be enough for them to successfully meet the demands that the profession and the company directs to them. The initiative is a step in the direction of proper awareness and continuous training of construction professionals”
