Luckily for you, it’s our full-time job of sifting through all the new TV shows to keep you informed, and each week we pick three of the best things for you to get stuck into this weekend.
So without further ado, here are three of the best things to stream this weekend.
The sand man
What: The sand man is originally a comic book series released from 1989 to 1996. Finally, it was adapted into an American fantasy horror television drama for the Netflix streaming service.
Produced by DC Entertainment, The sand man begins in 1916 and tells the story of Dream, the king of dreams who is captured in an occult ritual. After being held captive for 106 years, Morpheus escapes and sets out to restore order to his dream realm.
The series stars Tom Sturridge as Dream, with Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Ruler of Hell.
Lucifer’s incarnation in this series is much closer to the character’s original portrayal in the comics than his portrayal in the 2016 Lucifer television series starring Tom Ellis.
In fact, everything about this adaptation is dark. This is definitely not a series for the faint-hearted.
Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Doctor Who Star Jenna Coleman is also on the show in supporting roles.
When: Stream the first season now.
What: Season three of Code 404 will once again revolve around the misadventures of artificially enhanced super-cop John Major (Daniel Mays) and his long-suffering partner Roy Carver (Stephen Graham) as they face perhaps their biggest case yet.
The series is set in the near future and revolves around a pair of top-notch investigators. In the series opening episode, Major is killed on duty but his body is transferred to an experimental artificial intelligence project to revive him. However, the AI lacks Major’s crime-fighting instincts.
The series is back for a third season and this time around one of their own SIU colleagues has been murdered, and Major and Carver are determined to get to the bottom of the case. They soon realize it’s bigger than they thought.
When: Stream the first three seasons now.
What: Mr. Mayor follows Neil Bremer (Ted Danson), a wealthy businessman who is running for mayor of Los Angeles “for all the wrong reasons.” Once he wins, he must understand what he stands for, earn the respect of his staff, and connect with his teenage daughter – all while controlling the coyote population.

The comedy series also stars Holly Hunter as Arpi Meskimen, the deputy mayor of Los Angeles and a thirty-year-old former city councilwoman with her no-nonsense attitude. Vella Lovell plays Mikaela Shaw, Neil’s chief of staff and social media influencer, who is Tommy’s good friend. Bobby Moynihan also stars as Jayden Kwapis, Neil’s communications director whose goofy personality hides his street smarts and political instincts.
The show is created by 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmitt writers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock.
