Sri Lanka recall Dinesh Chandimal, name four rookie players to squad for limited series against South Africa

The likes of Angelo Mathews, Dimuth Karunaratne and Suranga Lakmal were left out of the Sri Lankan squad for the series against the South African squad.

Sri Lanka will assume South Africa in a limited series which will begin on September 2, 2021. This series will consist of 3 ODI and 3 T20I. All matches in this series will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Sri Lankan cricketer Dinesh Chandimal has been called up to the 30-member Sri Lankan squad for the series against the Proteas. Chandimal last played a limited game for Sri Lanka on March 14, 2021 against the West Indian team.

In a career that spanned over a decade, Chandimal represented Sri Lanka in 149 ODI and 57 T20I in limited cricket. While the right-hander plundered 3,698 points in ODI at an average of 32.16, he also amassed 868 points in T20I cricket.

Several uncapped cricketers named to Sri Lanka squad also

The Sri Lankan The team has also named several uncapped cricketers to their squad for the series against South Africa. The likes of Dilshan Madushanka, Sahan Arachchige, Pulina Tharanga and Mahesh Theekshana will have their first glimpse of international cricket in the series against South Africa.

Several senior names were omitted from the Sri Lankan team. The likes of Angelo Mathews, Dimuth Karunaratne and Suranga Lakmal were left out of the Sri Lankan squad for the series against the South African squad.

Senior cricketer Kusal Perera is making a comeback for the Sri Lankan side. Perera missed the Sri Lanka limited series against India as he suffered from a shoulder injury. Dasun Shanaka has been named skipper of the Sri Lankan team for the series against South Africa.
