The 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards took place last night, with Apple TV+ Ted Lasso and HBO Succession at the top of the victories. While Ted Lasso won four awards in total, Succession followed by three.

Similar to his sweep at the Emmys, Ted Lasso won Best Comedy Series, led by Jason Sudeikis (We are the Millers) winning Best Actor. Hanna Waddingham (game of thrones) and Brett Goldstein (Super Bob) each won respective awards for supporting actress and supporting actor.

Meanwhile, Succession also faced similar wins at Emmy night, having won Outstanding Drama Series, and actors Sarah Snook (jessabelle) and Kieran Culkin (Alone at home) having won the respective awards for Actress in a Supporting Role and Actor in a Supporting Role.

Despite Ted LassoHBO won the most awards among streamers with nine in total, followed by Netflix with eight, Warner Bros. with six and Apple TV+ with four.

Meanwhile, squid gameis Lee Jung-jae (deliver us from evil) and Melanie Lynskey (celestial creatures) from Showtime yellow jackets each won a respective award for Leading Role in a Drama Series. Murray Bartlett (Looking at) and Jennifer Coolidge (Revenge of a Blonde) each won respective acting and actress awards in a limited series for their work on HBO The White Lotus.

A number of stars have touched on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in their acceptance speeches, urging the public to learn about the war between the two neighboring nations.

“Our beautiful brothers and sisters – and more importantly the babies – in Ukraine who are completely decimated right now by this putrid, putrid torrent of abuse,” Waddingham said from London as he accepted the award for best comedy series. “Please think of them as much as you can and give as much as you can. Stop it, please.

Likewise, Michael Keaton (Batman) from Hulu Drug accepted his award for best actor in a limited series by announcing his solidarity with Ukrainian President Volodymur Zelenskyy, who is a former actor and comedian.

“The only thing I say about things in the world, I’m going to say thank you to my fellow actor, President Zelensky, and keep fighting,” Keaton said. “There is only one way to change things, environmental, social, racial and social justice – two words: the right to vote. Suffrage and voter suppression.
